&+cCongratulations!&+w

&+cYou have achieved a significant task in your MUD'ing lifetime. You have
become an immortal on &+wNoMud&+c! This is no small accomplishment and
you should be proud of yourself. There are different levels of
immortality and advancement in the immortal ranks is based on a different
set of standards than those of the mortal world. You have a job, (or
several jobs), to do now, and accomplishing these tasks can be more
challenging than what you did to get here. These are a few basic
guidelines that have been established to help you be a competent immortal.

1. &+wBe impartial.&+c Always listen to both sides of a story with and open
mind before passing judgement on anyone...mortals and immortals. One of
the qualities that you possess that impressed the other immorts to get
you here was your fairmindedness, don't blow it now.

2. &+wRespect others.&+c This includes mortals. Even level 1's!!!! Don't
think
that just because you have more power than them that you can take over the
mud. Treat everyone with the respect you expect to be treated with
yourself. Remember that players are paying money to be here, (as are
you in one way or another whether it be college tuition or paying for a
provider), and nobody wants to be hassled by an immort who wants to play
god.
Part of the issue of respect includes invisibility. Never talk
directly to a mortal while you are invisible. Let them know who you
are...the same rule applies when talking to lower level immorts.

3. &+wDo not help mortals unnecessarily. &+c This means do not heal them,
restore them or give them special spells/skills. This is considered
unfair and wrong. Since we want to make NoMud challenging, unnecessarily
helping players in this regard is cheating them out of the full enjoyment of a
challenge; whether they realize it or not.
There shall be no special treatment of any players no matter what your
relationship is towards them. If your friends give you a hard time about
loading equipment for them, if is your responsibility to explain why that
is not fair.

4. Always remember that people are here to have fun and enjoy themselves.
Don't interfere with their leisure time. Just as you, they are here to
have to socialize and interact within this virtual community. Don't
argue over 'gos' and keep in mind the language policy. &+wWatch your
mouth and urge others to do likewise.&+c As we have children playing
here, we don't want to say anything over 'gos' that could be offensive to
others. Set a good example for others to follow.

5. Although we believe in &+wfreedom of speech.&+c There are certain
limitations set forth to avoid chaos. Please enforce the rules that there
shall be no cursing or slanderous remarks made about others in regards
to race, sex, color, ethnicity, nationality, or sexual orientation.
 (refer to rule 2)

6. When in doubt&+w always try to do what you feel would be the right
thing&+c to do. In the event that you are unsure about current
circumstances please refer this problem to a higher level god.
Sometimes, you may be the only one on, in which case you should document
the event on the immortal board or write an administrator outlining the
event and what course of action you took.
If all else fails, trans the troublemakes to 1202 and leave them
there. 101's don't have trans, but you can mount them and then goto
1202. &+wAn immortal should never kill a mortal, even one with a
(KILLER) or (THIEF) flag. Let the others mortals do that.

7.&+w Interact with the online community.&+c Don't just sit there and do
nothing. You have a job to do. You and they are what keeps this mud
running. Don't just decide to do something based solely on your opinion.
Ask around. This mud is not just for immortals it's for everyone and we
need input from the insiders and not solely from outsiders. Public Opinion
is a highly valued resource. Furthermore, if you are online and not
involved with some special immortal task that requires your complete
attention, (i.e- building, coding and so forth), stay visible to mortals
and lower level immorts.

8. &+wLearn as much as you can abou how NoMud works. &+c Stat objects and
mobs, tour zones, play another mort character. There should be no excuse
for you not knowing how to get to a certain zone on foot or what a
certain potion does.

9. &+wUse 'gecho' and 'thunder' commands sparingly.&+c They are general
announcement channgels and not meant for idle chit chat. Also do not use
commands such as: 'trans', 'snoop', 'force', 'order', 'coerce', or 'mute'
uncessarily. Always ask or otherwise indicate to the mort or immort that
you are going to use one of these commands.

10. &+wRespect the privacy of the other immorts. &+c Always 'knock' (at
<name> say 'Knock knock ?' works), before going into another immortal's
private room.

11. It should go without saying, but ignoring these tips can find you
quickly returned to the ranks of the mortals. Think about that before
you flex your powerful immortal muscles to your friends. &+wNobody likes
a showoff.&+c

12. &+wUnacceptable behaviour&+c:
       a) Killing mortals without their permission. (If a mortal asks for
it, or you are both testing something, please let the other
          immorts know.}
       b) Giving non-clan equipment to mortals, or giving clan equipment
to those not in a clan. Helping mortals by killing tough mobs
or transing them to a safe location.
       c) Hindering mortals by moving mobs to their location or healing
          the mobs.
       d) Helping or hindering mortals with spells.
       e) Adjusting morts' stats or otherwise enhancing their performance.

13. As time changes, the people change with it. No rules are ever final and
there is always room for debate. Please feel free to suggest any changes or
additions which you believe are necessary and would benefit all of us.

&+wWelcome to our ranks. We hope that your tenure here is both
self-gratifying and a benefit to NoMud.
